Chapter 1
{Rishon ha'besura d'Yeshua Mshikha bar Alaha}
1 (This is) the beginning* of the Gospel* of Yeshua Mshikha bar Alaha. 2 As it is written by the
prophets*, "Behold! I will send my messenger before your face that he prepare your way." 3 "A
voice* which cries in the wilderness*, 'Prepare the way of Mar-Yah, and make straight his
paths'".
4 Yokhanan was in the wilderness baptising and preaching the baptism of repentance for the
forgiveness of sins.* 5 And going out to him were all of the (people of the) region of Yehuda and
all of the B'nai Yerushalayim*. And he baptised them while they confessed their sins in the
(river) Yordan. 6 And Yokhanan was clothed in clothing of the hair of camels and had bound
leather around his loins and his food was locusts and wild honey*.
7 And he preached and said: "Behold! After me comes one who is more powerful than I, (and) I
am not worthy to bow* to loosen the straps of his sandals."* 8* "I baptise you in water, but he
will baptise you by Holy Spirit."
9 And it was in those days that Yeshua came from Nasrath d'Galil* and was baptised in the
Yordan by Yokhanan. 10 And straightway, when he rose from the water, he saw the heavens
open and the Spirit, like a dove, descended upon him. 11 And a voice was (coming) from the
heavens: "You are my beloved Son, (and) in you I am pleased."
12 Straightway the Spirit directed him into the wilderness*. 13 And he was there in the
wilderness (for) forty days while being tempted* by the accuser* and he was among wild
animals and ministering to him were angels.
14 After Yokhanan had been delivered over*, Yeshua came to Galil and was preaching the
gospel of the Kingdom of Alaha. 15 He said: "The time is fulfilled*, and the Kingdom of Alaha
has arrived. Repent and believe in the gospel*."
16 And while walking around the sea of the Galil he saw Shimon and his brother Andreus who
were casting nets* into the sea. They were fishermen. 17 And Yeshua said to them: "Come,
follow me and I will make you fishers of the sons of men." 18 Straightway they dropped their
nets and followed him. 19 And as he crossed (the land) further he saw Ya'aqub bar Zavddai
and his brother Yokhanan. And they were sitting* in a boat repairing their nets. 20 And he
called to them and straightway they left their father Zavddai in the boat with the servants and
followed him.
21 And when they entered into K'far Nakhum*, straightway he began teaching during Shabbat
in the assemblies*. 22 And they were amazed by his teaching, for he would teach them as no
authority or their sofrim had ever taught before. 23 And in the assembly there was a certain
man in whom was an unclean spirit and he cried out and said: "What do we have to do with you,
Yeshua, the Nasraya?*" 24 "Have you come to destroy us? I know who you. You are the Holy
One of Alaha." 25 And Yeshua rebuked him and said, "Close your mouth! Come out from
him." 26 And the man fell down to the ground and the unclean spirit cried out in a loud voice
and came out of the man. 27 And the people were afraid and everyone was asking each other
saying, "What is this? What is this new teaching? For it is with great authority that he
commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him." 28 And straightway his name* went
out into all the land of the Galil.
29 And they left from that assembly and came to the house of Shimon and of Andreus, along
with Ya'aqub and Yokhanan. 30 And the mother-in-law of Shimun was ill with fever and they
told her about him.* 31 And he approached her and took her by her hand and raised her up;
straightway the fever left her* and she ministered to them. 32 In that evening, when the sun
was setting, they brought to him all those who were greatly diseased and possessed (by the
unclean spirits) in order to be healed. 33 And the city and all the assembly was at the door. 34
And he healed many who were greatly diseased* and who were weak and had many unclean
spirits in them, which he cast out. And he did not permit the unclean spirits to speak because
they knew him.
35 And early when morning came he arose and went to an area that was private and it was
there that he was praying*. 36 And they were looking for him, Shimon and those who were with
him*. 37 And when they found him they said to him, "All the people are seeking you." 38 And
he said to them, "Walk to the villages and to the cities that are near this place, and I will also
preach there, for it is this reason that I have come." 39 And he would preach* in all of the
assemblies and in all of the Galil he was casting out unclean spirits.
40 And he came to a leper who fell upon his feet and who was begging him saying, "If you
desire you are able to make me clean." 41 And Yeshua* had great compassion on him and
stretched out his hand and touch him saying, "I desire. Be clean." 42 Straightway the disease*
departed and he was made clean. 43 And he instructed him when he was leaving, saying to
him, "See to it that you tell no man." 44 "Rather, go and show yourself to the Kaheinim and offer
an offering for your purification as commanded by Mosha for their testimony." 45 But after he
left he began speaking of all the things that had taken place, and it was the cause of Yeshua not
being able to freely enter into the city but had to use another entrance which was in an unused
area. And they were coming to him from every place.

3 "wilderness", Rabyabarai said: "The wilderness is the land of waste, the land of those who have not
heard the gospel and all those who refuse to hear the Voice of Alaha. For it is written in the Gospel to the
Hebrews that the people of times past would not hear with faith."
4 Entire verse, Targum: "Yokhanan was in the wilderness baptising and preaching. The people came to
him and were making repentance for the forgiveness of their sins and became baptised with the waters of
the Yordan."
5 "B'nai Yerushalayim", or "children of Jerusalem"
6 "locusts and wild honey", Dalin: "locusts with wild honey". Mar Dalin III tells us that: "The Yemenite
Shemishqo of East Africa and Burma have a custom of mixing honey with kosher locusts as part of a
meal."
7 "And he preached and said", Targum: "And when he preached, he would say"
7 "I am not worthy to bow...", Targum: "I am not so worthy to bow before his feet to untie his sandals"
7 After "sandals" nine Targumim add "And you shall seek his baptism."
8 Nine Targumim add: "And the people came to him, and some asked, 'How is his baptism different from
your baptism?'" Rabyabarai, who lived before the Bar Kokhba Rebellion, quoted this verse in a letter to
Believers in Antioch who were claiming that baptism without faith was acceptable. In his letter,
Rabyabarai corrected the heretical views of the Believers in Antioch.
9 "Nasrath d'Galil", three Targumim: "The community of the Nasrayas living in Galil". The Targum
indicates that "Nasrath" was not a particular city as is translated in some Eng. versions, but rather, a
community in the Galil (Galilee) consisting of a people known as "Nasraya" (Nazaraean). Nasrat d'Galil
(Aramaic Nasrat d'Galila, Hebrew: Natzrat shebagalil). The Nazaraean community within Galil (Galilee).
Galil was separated from Judaea by Samaria (Yochanan 4:3,4). According to references in Mattai 26:73;
Marcus 14:70, the inhabitants used a particular dialect. Inhabitants were despised by the general Jewish
population (Yochanan 7:41,52). Our Lord was raised in Galil, (Mattai 2:22; Lucas 2:39,51) and it was Galil
where He chose His Apostles (Mattai 4:18,21; Yochanan 1:43,44; Acts 1:11).
12 "Straightway...", Dalin: "His mother, Holy Spirit" (see fn Mattai 4:8). Rabban Yoseph (418 CE) said:
"The Mother took Maran into the wilderness and placed him at the foot of Har Tabor, but the accuser, the
evil one, brought him high upon the mountain."
13 "tempted", Rabban Ya'aqub d'Urishalam, z"l (912 CE) said: "How is it that Maran Yeshua was tempted?
Was he unable to withstand trials coming to Him from the evil one? When the Gospel of the Hebrews says
'he is the one, like a man with a body like that of our own, was tempted in every manner as we, except for
sin,' it means the manhood of Yeshua, separate from His divinity. Although the temptations were put
before Him, He did not fall and sin. Instead, He knows our weaknesses, for in a weak body was His
divinity placed, and for this very reason we have a high priest to make intercession for us."

fulfilled, he means a new day has begun, a new world has been set upon its wheels and the era for

mother-in-law knew of the divinity of Mshikha. This could be Mar Marqos stating the first clear fact in his
gospel account of the divinity of Maran Yeshua. However, it could be that the mother-in-law, upon hearing
of the miracles that had occurred in the synagogue, realised who Yeshua was and appropriately gave Him
thanks. I heard a Rabbi from this religious body say that he had a copy of the Gospel in which it added, 'and
Yeshua told her not to speak of these things to anyone'. Whether this is authentic or not I am not aware,
but if it is, we can assume either Mshikha is referring to the miracles that had been related to her or to the
miracle of her healing from the illness."

Chapter 2
1And again Yeshua entered into K'far Nakhum after a few days when they heard that he was in
the house. 2So many gathered there that the house was unable to hold them, not even in front
of the door. He was speaking the word among them. 3And they came to him and brought to
him a paralytic while bearing him between four men. 4And when they were unable to approach
him due to the crowds, they climbed up to the roof and lifted the cover of the roof where Yeshua
was and lowered his mat down. 5When Yeshua saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Beni,
you are forgiven your sins." 6At that time some of the sofrim and Perushim who were sitting and
thinking within their hearts that this man had spoken blasphemy. 7They were asking among
themselves, "Who is able to forgive sins except for Elohim*." 8But Yeshua knew in his spirit
concerning the things they were thinking within their hearts and he said to them, 9"Why is it that
you think these things within your heart?* Which is easier to say to the paralytic, 'You are
forgiven your sins', or 'Get up and take your mat and walk'?" 10"But so that you might know that
it is in accordance with Torah for the son of man on earth to forgive sins." 11He said to the
paralytic, "I say to you, rise up and take your mat and go to your house." 12And he arose and
straightway took his mat and departed in the sight of everyone. And everyone who saw was
amazed and they gave glory to Alaha while saying, "We have never seen anything like this
before."
13And Yeshua went out again to the sea and all the multitude were coming to him and he was
teaching them. 14And when he was passing by he saw Khalfi bar Levi who was sitting by the
door of the custom house*. And he said to him, "Come, follow me." And he arose and he went
and began following him.
15And it occurred that when he sat down at the house, there were many tax collectors and
sinners who were sitting with Yeshua and his talmidim. For there were many who were
following him. 16And the sofrim and Perushim, when they saw that he was eating together with
tax collectors and sinners, they said among themselves, "What kind of disciples sit and eat and
drink among sinners?" 17But Yeshua heard them and he said, "Do the healthy need a
physician? No, only those who have illnesses. I have not come to call the righteous, rather the
sinners."
18Now it was the custom of the talmidim of Yokhanan and the Perushim to fast. And they came
and said, "Why do the talmidim of Yokhanan and the Perushim observe the fast and your
talmidim do not observe the fast?" 19And Yeshua said to them, "The guests of the wedding
feast are unable to fast so long as the bridegroom is with them." 20"But days are coming when
the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then, in those last days, they will fast."
21"A wise man will not sew a new patch and sew it to an old garment, because as the old
garment becomes weak, the new patch will tear the garment and the hole will become larger."
22Neither does a wise man put new wine into old wine-skins because the wine will burst the
wine-skins, and the wine-skins become destroyed and the wine is poured out. Rather, they put
new wine into new wine-skins."
23And it occurred that when Yeshua went through the fields on Shabbat, his talmidim were
walking and plucking the grain. 24And the Perushim said to him, "What are they doing on
Shabbat? This is something that is not in accordance with Torah." 25And Yeshua said to them,
"Have you not ever read how David, when he was in need, when he hungered along with those
who were with him, 26how he entered into the House of Alaha while Eviathar was the Kohen
ha'Gadol, and he took and ate from the bread of the table of Mar-Yah which was not in
accordance with Torah to eat except for the Kaheinim? For he even gave (some of the bread)
to those who were with him." 27And he said to them, "Shabbat was created for man; man was
not made for Shabbat." 28"Thus, the Son of Man is also Lord of Shabbat."

Chapter 3
1 Again Yeshua entered into an assembly and there was a certain man there whose hand was
withered. 2 And they were watching him in case he healed him on Shabbat, so that they could
accuse him. 3 And he said to the man whose hand was withered: Rise up in the midst. 4 And he
also said to them: Is it in accordance with law to do that which is good on Shabbat, or to do that
which is evil? to give life to a soul, or to destroy it? But they were silent. 5 And he looked at them
with irritation, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts. And he said to the man: Stretch out
your hand. And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 And the Pharisees left
immediately with the Herodians, and took counsel against him, so that they could destroy him.
7 And Yeshua with his disciples went to the sea and many people from Galil joined him, and
from Yehuda, 8 and from Yerushalayim, and from Edom, and from beyond the Yordan, and from
Tyre, and from Tsidon: great multitudes came to him, who heard all the things he had done. 9
He asked his talmidim to bring him a boat because of the multitude, lest they should crowd upon
him, 10 for he had healed many, so that they falling on him so they could touch him. 11 And
those who were afflicted with unclean spirits, when they saw him, they were falling and crying
out, saying: You are the Son of Alaha. 12 And he was rebuking them very much and told them
that they were not to make him known.
13 And he went up to a mountain and called those whom he pleased; and they came to him. 14
And he chose twelve to be with him, to send them out to preach, 15 and to be authorities to heal
the sick and to cast out demons. 16 And to Shimon he gave the name of Keipha. 17 And to
Ya'aqub ben Zavddai and to Yokhanan the brother of Ya'aqub, he gave the name of B'nai
Ragshi (that is, Sons of Thunder). 18 And Andreus, and Philipos, and Tulmai, and Mattai, and
Thoma, and Ya'aqub ben Alpheus, and Taddai, and Shimon the Canaanite, 19 and Yehuda
Skariota, the one who betrayed him.
20 And they came to the a house, and the multitude gathered again so many that they were not
able to eat bread. 21 And his family heard, and they went out to rescue him; for they were
saying that he was out of his mind. 22 And those scribes who had come down from
Yerushalayim, said: Beelzebub is in him; and by the prince of demons he expels demons. 23
And Yeshua called them and spoke to them in parables: How can satan cast out satan? 24 For
if a kingdom is against itself, it will be divided and that kingdom is not able to stand. 25 And if a
house is against itself, it will be divided and that house is not able to stand. 26 And if satan rises
up against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand, but he is at his end. 27 No man is able
to enter the house of a strong man, and steal his possessions, unless he first restrains the
strong man; and then he may steal from his house.
28 Truly I say to all of you, That all sins and the blasphemies that men may speak, will be
forgiven them; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, he never has any forgiveness;
but he is guilty to eternal judgement 30 - because they had said that an unclean spirit is in him.
31 And his mother and his brothers came, standing outside, sent to call him to them. 32 And the
crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him: Look, your mother and your brothers are
outside looking for you. 33 He replied, and said to them: Who is my mother? and who are my
brothers? 34 And he looked at those who sat with him, and said: Look, my mother! and, look, my
brothers! 35 For he who does the will of Alaha, is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.
Chapter 4
1 Again he began to teach by the side of the sea. And there were gathered around him great
multitudes; so he got into a boat on the sea and sat there, and all the multitude stood on the
land by the side of the sea. 2 And he taught them with many parables. And in his teaching, he
said: 3 Listen! Behold a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell on the side
of the road; and a bird came, and ate it. 5 And other seed fell on rocky ground, where there was
not much soil; and it quickly sprang up, because there was no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun
was up, it burned*, and because it did not have a root, it dried up. 7 Others fell among a thorny
area. And the thorns rose up and choked it, and it did not bear fruits. 8 But others fell on good
ground, and rose up, and grew and produced fruits; some thirty, some sixty, and some a
hundred. 9 And he said: Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.
10 Now when they were alone, those who were with him, with his* twelve, asked him about the
parable. 11 And Yeshua said to them: To all of you it is given to know the mystery of the
Kingdom of Alaha; but to those outside, everything is in parables 12 so that when they see, they
may see and not see, and when they hear, they may hear and not understand*; so that they
may not turn again and be forgiven of their sins.
13 And he said to them: Do all of you not understand this parable? And how will all of you
understand all parables? 14 The sower who sowed, he* sowed the word. 15 And those that fell
on the side of the road, are those in whom the word is sown; and when they have heard it, satan
comes and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16 And those sown on rocky
ground, are they who, when they hear the word, immediately received it with joy. 17 And they
have no root in them, but are fleeting; and when there are afflictions or persecutions because of
the word, they are quickly upset. 18 And those sown into the thorny areas are they that hear the
word, 19 and the cares of this world, and the corruption of riches, and all of the other lusts enter
in and choke the word, and it is without fruit. 20 And those that were sown upon good ground
are those who heard the word, and receive it, and bear fruits, by thirties, and by sixties, and by
hundreds.
21 And he said to them: Is a lamp brought to be placed under a basket, or is it placed under a
bed? Should it not be placed on a lamp-stand? 22 For there is nothing which is hidden, which
will not be uncovered; and nothing exists undisclosed, which will not be revealed. 23 If a man
has ears to hear, let him hear. 24 And he said to them: Pay attention to what all of you are
hearing; with what measure all of you measure, it shall be measured to all of you and there
shall be more given to all of you who hear. 25 For he who has, more will be given; and from
those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken from them.
26 And he said: The Kingdom of Alaha is like this, if a man who casts seed onto the ground, 27
will sleep and rise, at night and during the day, and the seed will grow an spring up, while he is
unaware. 28 For the earth brings forth the fruit; first comes the plant, and next the ear, and at
last the complete grain* in the ear. 29 When the fruit is ripe, immediately comes the sickle,
because the harvest has come.
30 And he said: To what can we compare the Kingdom of Alaha? and with what parable can we
compare it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown in the earth, is the smallest of all
seeds sown in the earth; 32 and when it is sown it springs up, becoming greater than all the
herbs, and produces branches so large that, under its shadow, birds can nest. 33 And Yeshua
spoke parables like these, parables such as they were able to hear. 34 And he did not speak to
them without parables; but he explained every thing to his disciples in confidentiality.
35 He said to them on that day, in the evening: Let us cross over to the other side. 36 And they
left the multitudes, taking him away in the boat as he was. And there were also other boats with
them. 37 And there was a great storm and wind; and the waves were coming into the boat, and
it was going to be filled. 38 And Yeshua was sleeping on a blanket* in the stern of the boat. And
they came and awoke him, and said to him: Master, do you not care that we are perishing*? 39
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Die down; be calm. And the wind died
down, and there occurred a great calm. 40 And he said to them: Why are all of you so afraid like
this? and why is there not faith in all of you? 41 And they were filled with a great fear*: and they
were saying to one another: For a certainty, who is this, that the winds and the sea obey him!

Chapter 5
1 And he came to the other side of the sea, to Eretz Gadriim*. 2 And as he got out of the boat, a
man came up to him from the tombs a man whom had an unclean spirit in him. 3 And he was
dwelling among the tombs; and no man was able to detain him with chains, 4 because
whenever he was bound with chains and shackles, he would break the chains and shackles,
and no man was able to control him. 5 And constantly, throughout the day and night, as he was
among the tombs, and cried out and wounded himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Yeshua
in the distance, he ran and worshipped him; 7 and cried out with a loud voice, and said: What
have I to do with you, Yeshua, Son of Alaha, the Most High? I beg you by Alaha, that you do not
torment me. 8 For he said to him: Come out of the man, unclean spirit. 9 And he asked him:
What is your name? And he said to him: Legion is our name; because we are many. 10 And he
begged him very much that he would not send him out of the country. 11 Now, there was a large
herd of swine grazing close to a mountain. 12 And the demons begged him saying: Send us
upon those swine, that we may attack* them. 13 And he allowed them to do so. And those
unclean spirits went out, and attacked the swine, and the herd ran to a cliff, and fell into the sea,
about two thousand, and were drowned in the waters.
14 Those tending to them fled and spoke about it in the city and in the villages; and they came
out to see what had happened. 15 And they came to Yeshua, and saw the one in whom the
demons had possessed, clothed, and somber, and sitting, the one in whom the legion was in;
and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen all of this told them how it occurred to the one
who had the demons, and also as to the swine. 17 And they begged that he leave from their
border. 18 And as he went into the boat, the one who had been possessed of demons
requested that he might remain with him. 19 But he did not allow him, but said to him instead:
Go to your house, to your people, and tell them what Mar-Yah has done for you, and how he
had mercy on you. 20 And he departed from there, and began to tell others in ten cities*, what
Yeshua had done for him. And all of them were amazed.
21 And when Yeshua had crossed over in a boat to the other side, again great multitudes
gathered around him while he was on the shore of the sea. 22 And a certain man came, one of
the chiefs of the assembly* whose name was Yoarash, and when he saw him, fell at his feet, 23
and begging him very much, said to him: My daughter is very sick; come and lay your hand on
her, and she will be made whole and live. 24 And Yeshua went with him; and a great multitude
was following him, and they were pressing against him. 25 And a woman who had been
suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and who had suffered much from many
physicians, and had spent everything she had, and was no better off, but was afflicted worse
than ever; 27 when she heard of Yeshua, she came up behind him in the crowd, and touched
his garment. 28 For she said: If I only touch his garment, I shall live. 29 And immediately the
flow of her blood ceased; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her illness. 30 And
immediately Yeshua knew in himself that power had gone out of him: and he turned and said to
the crowd: Who touched my garments? 31 And his disciples said to him: You see the crowds
pressing against you; and you say, Who touched me? 32 But he was looking to see who had
done this. 33 And the woman being full of fear and trembling, for she knew what had taken
place within her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 And he said to
her: My daughter, your faith has made you live: go in peace; and be healed of your illness.
35 And while he was speaking, some from the house of the chief of the assembly came, and
said: Your daughter is dead; why do you persist in troubling the teacher? 36 But Yeshua,
hearing the words they were saying, said to the chief of the assembly: Do not fear; only believe.
37 And he did not allow anyone to go with him, except Shimon Kepha, and Yaaqov, and
Yokhanan the brother of Yaaqov. 38 And they came to the house of the chief of the assembly;
and saw that they were distressed, and weeping, and wailing. 39 He entered and said to them:
Why are all of you in distress, and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping. 40 And they
began laughing at him. But Yeshua sent all of them out. And he took the girls father, and her
mother, and those that were with him, and entered where the girl lay. 41 And he took the girl's
hand, and said to her: Little* girl, rise up. 42 And immediately the girl rose up and was walking;
for she was twelve years old*. And they were overcome with amazement. 43 And he strongly
told them to make this known to no one. And he said that they should give her something to eat.

Chapter 6
1 He* departed from there and came to his own city, and his disciples were following him. 2 And
when Shabbat came he began to teach in the assembly. And many who heard were amazed,
and were saying: From where did this man arrive at these things? And, what is the wisdom
which is given to him! and that such miracles are done by his hands! 3 Is this not the carpenter,
the son of Maryam, and the brother of Ya'aqub and of Yosi and of Yehuda and of Shimon? And
look, are not his sisters here with us? And they became offended at him. 4 And Yeshua said to
them: There is no prophet who is dishonoured*, except in his own city, and among his relatives,
and in his own house. 5 And he was not there to do even one miracle, except upon a few sick
he laid his hands and healed them. 6 And he marvelled at the lack of their faith. And he travelled
around the villages while teaching.
7 He called his twelve, and began to send them two and two; and he gave them authority over
unclean spirits, to cast them out. 8 And he commanded them not to take anything for the way,
apart from only a staff; no bag and no bread, neither currency* in their purses; 9 but that they
wear sandals, and not put on two cloaks. 10 And he said to them: Into whatever house you*
enter, there abide until you* depart from that place. 11 And whoever does not receive you, nor
hear you, when you leave from that place shake off the dust that is under your feet, for a
testimony to them. Truly I say to you, that it will be comfort for S'dom and Amorah in the day of
judgement rather than for that city. 12 And they went out and proclaimed that men should
repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and they anointed many of the sick with oil, and
they healed them.
14 And Herodus the king heard of Yeshua, for his name had become known to him, and he was
saying: Yokhanan the Baptiser has risen from the dead, because of the miracles that are done
by him. 15 Others were saying that he is Eliyahu, and others that he is a prophet, and like one of
the prophets. 16 But when Herodus heard, he said: It is Yokhanan whose head I cut off he has
risen from the dead.
17 For Herodus had sent and seized Yokhanan and bound him in prison, because of Herodia,
the wife of Philipos, his brother whom he had taken. 18 For Yokhanan had said to Herodus: It is
not lawful for you to take the wife of your brother. 19 And Herodia herself was an enemy* to him,
and most wanted to kill him, but was not able. 20 For Herodus was afraid of Yokhanan, because
he knew that he was a righteous and holy man, and he watched after* him, and listened to him
in many things and did the things, and with pleasure he heard him. 21 And there was a noted
day, when Herodus gave a feast, on his date of birth, for his aristocrats and the commanders
and the chiefs of Galil. 22 And the daughter of Herodia came in, and danced; and pleased
Herodus and those who were sitting with him. And the king said to the girl: Ask of me anything
that you wish, and I will give it to you. 23 And he swore to her: Anything that you ask, I will give
it to you, even up to half of my kingdom. 24 But she went out and said to her mother: What shall
I ask of him? She said to her: The head of Yokhanan the Baptiser. 25 And she immediately
entered with excitement to the king, and said: I desire that you, without delay, give me in a plate
the head of Yokhanan the Baptiser. 26 And it saddened the king deeply; yet, because of the
oaths, and because of the guests, he did not wish to refuse her; 27 instead the king immediately
sent an executioner, and commanded that he must bring the head of Yokhanan. And he went,
and cut off the head of Yokhanan in the prison; 28 and brought it on a plate, and gave it to the
girl; and the girl gave it to her mother. 29 And when his disciples heard they came and took his
body, and laid it in a tomb.
30 And the Apostles* assembled around* Yeshua, and told him everything they had done, and
everything they had taught. 31 And he said to them: Come, let us go into the desert alone, and
rest a little. For there were many going and coming, and they had no place even to eat*. 32 And
they departed to a deserted place in a boat by themselves. 33 But many saw them as they were
leaving, and knew them; and from all the cities, they ran to the place by land before him. 34 And
Yeshua got out and saw many crowds, and he had compassion on them, because they looked
like sheep without a shepherd. And he began teaching them many things. 35 When it started
getting late, his disciples gathered near to him, and said to him: This is a deserted area, and the
time is late. 36 Dismiss them to go into the surrounding fields and into the villages, and let them
purchase bread for themselves; for they do not have anything to eat. 37 But he said to them: All
of you give them something to eat. They said to him: Should we go and purchase bread of the
value of two hundred days wages, and give them something to eat? 38 And he said to them: Go
see how much bread all of you have here. And when they had seen, they said to him: Five
loaves of bread and two fish. 39 And then he told them to have everyone seated by groupings
on the grass. 40 And they sat by groupings of hundreds and fifties. 41 And he took the five
loaves of bread and the two fish, and looked towards heaven, and blessed and broke the bread,
and gave it to his disciples to set before them; and they also divided the two fish among them all
and ate. 42 And all ate and were satisfied. 43 And they took up the fragments twelve baskets
full of fish. 44 And those who ate bread were five thousand men.
45 And straightway he insisted that his disciples go up into the boat, and to go before him to the
opposite side, to Beth-Saida, while he dismissed the multitudes. 46 And when he had dismissed
them, he went to a mountain to pray.
47 When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and he was alone on the land.
48 And he saw them straining themselves in rowing; for the wind was against them. And in the
fourth watch of the night, Yeshua came to them walking on the waters; and he was inclined to
pass by them. 49 They saw him walking on the waters, and they thought to themselves that it
was an apparition*, and they cried out. 50 For all of them saw him, and were frightened. And
immediately he spoke to them, and said to them: Take courage; it is I; fear not. 51 And he
climbed into the boat with them; and the wind ceased. And they were profoundly amazed and
astounded among themselves. 52 For they did not gain understanding from the miracle
concerning the bread; because their hearts were bewildered.
53 And when they had crossed over to the other side of the shore, they came to Eretz Ginesar*.
54 And when they got out of the boat, straightway the people* of the place recognised him. 55
And they ran through all that region, and began to bring those that were ill, bearing them on
beds to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he entered into the villages and cities,
those with illnesses were laid in the streets. They were begging him, that they might touch but
the edge of his clothing. And all those that touched him were healed.

Chapter 7
1Some of the Perushim and sofrim gathered around him, those who came from Yerushalayim,
2and they saw some of the talmidim who were eating bread when they had not washed their
hands, and they complained. 3For all Jews and Perushim were stringent in observing the
washing of the hands and it was the custom not to eat before washing the hands, but they had
twisted the traditions of the zakanim* in this regard. 4And they twist many of the other traditions
of the zakanim like the washing of cups and pots, vessels and sheets. 5And they, the sofrim and
Perushim, asked him, "Why do your talmidim not walk in accordance with the traditions of the
zakanim in relation to washing the hands before eating bread?" And they said, "They did not
wash their hands."
6And he said to them, "Well did Ishayahu* prophesy about you hypocrites. It is written that
'these people honour me with their lips but their very hearts are distant from me. 7Their
reverence is false because they are teaching the doctrines and commandments of the sons of
men.'"
9"For you have abandoned the Torah of Alaha and have taken to yourselves to twisting the
traditions of the sons of men as regards to many things including the washing of cups and pots
and many other things that are similar to this." 10And he said to them, "You certainly have
rejected the Torah of Alaha in order that you might set up your own traditions in place of those
of Mosha." 11"For it was Mosha who said to honour your father and your mother and anyone
who reviles his father or his mother must be put to death." 12"But you teach that if a man
should say to his father or to his mother 'the support I have given to you is Qurban' and then you
do not permit him to do anything else for his father or his mother." 13Because of this very thing
you despise the word of Alaha because you attempt to twist the traditions handed down to you
in order to make it appear before the sons of men as if you are observant in many things."
14And Yeshua called all the multitude and said to them, "Here me, all of you. 15Understand
that there is nothing that is outside of a man that enters into him that is able to defile him, but the
thing that goes out from him, that is what defiles a man. 16He who has ears to hear, let him
hear."
17And when Yeshua entered into the house, away from the multitudes, his talmidim began
asking him about this saying. 18He said to them, "You too are slow to understanding. Do you
not know that every thing which enters from the outside into a man is not able to to defile him.
19Because it does not enter into his heart, rather into his stomach and is removed by way of
excretion, which purifies all the food. 20But anything that goes out from a man is what defiles a
man. 21For it is from the inside of the heart of the sons of men that evil thoughts proceed such
as adultery, fornication, theft, murder, extortion, 22wickedness, deceit, lust, an evil eye,
blasphemy, pride and foolishness. 23All of these things are evil, and from within do they
proceed and defile a man."
24Yeshua rose up from that place and came to the border of Tyre and Tsidon and went into a
certain house, and he desired that no one know about him there, however, he had no privacy.
25But straightway, a woman heard about him whose daughter had an unclean spirit within her.
She came and fell at his feet. 26That woman was a Canaanite* and she was begging him to
cast out the unclean spirit from her daughter. 27And Yeshua said to her, "First, permit the
children to be satisfied, for it is not appropriate to take bread from the children and throw it to the
dogs." 28But she answered ans said to him, "Yes, Mari, even the dogs under the table eat of
the crumbs from the children." 29And Yeshua said to her, "Go! Because of this word the
unclean spirit has exited from your daughter." 30And she went to her house and found that her
daughter was lying on a mat and the unclean spirit had already left her body.
31Again, Yeshua went out from the border of Tyre and Tsidon and he came to the sea of Galil,
on the border of the Ten Cities. 32 And they brought to him a certain deaf man who also had a
speech impediment and they were asking him to place his hand upon him.
33And he led him away from the multitude to a private area and placed his fingers in his ears,
and spit, and touched his tongue. 34He then looked into the heavens and breathed and said to
him, "Be opened." 35And straightway his ears were opened and his tongue was made whole
and was able to fully speak. 36And he instructed them not to speak of this to anyone, but the
more he told them this, the more it became publicised. 37And they were all greatly astonished
and they were saying, "Everything he has done is well; he even makes the deaf to hear and
those who are unable to speak, they speak."
