Ephesians: Revised Murdock Translation

I.

1 PAULOS, a apostle of Yeshua Mshikha by the pleasure of Alaha, to them who are at Ephesus, sanctified, and believing in Yeshua Mshikha:

2 Peace be with you, and grace from Alaha our Father, and from Maran Yeshua Mshikha.

3 Blessed be Alaha, the Father of Maran Yeshua Mshikha, who has blessed us with all blessings of the Spirit in heaven, by Mshikha:

4 according as he had previously chosen us in him, before the foundation of the world, that we might be holy and without blame before him; and, in love, predestinated us for himself;

5 and adopted us for sons, in Yeshua Mshikha, as was agreeable to his pleasure:

6 that the glory of his grace might be glorified, which he poured upon us by his Beloved One;

7 by whom we have redemption, and the forgiveness of sins by his blood, according to the riches of his grace,

8 which has abounded in us, in all wisdom and all spiritual understanding.

9 And he has made us know the mystery of his pleasure, which he had before determined in himself to accomplish,

10 in the dispensation of the fullness of times; that all things might again be made new in Mshikha, things in heaven and [things] on earth.

11 And in him we are elected, according as he predestined us and willed, who works all things according to the counsel of his pleasure;

12 that we should be they who first hoped in Mshikha, to the honor of his glory.

13 In whom, you also have heard the word of truth, which is the gospel of your life, and have believed in him; and have been sealed with the Holy Spirit, who was promised,

14 who is the earnest of our inheritance, until the redemption of them that are alive, and for the praise of his glory.

15 Therefore, lo I also, since I heard of your faith in Maran Yeshua Mshikha, and of your love towards all the saints,

16 cease not to give thanks on your account, and to remember you in my prayers;

17 that the Alaha of Maran Yeshua Mshikha, the Father of glory, may give to you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the recognition of him;

18 and that the eyes of your hearts may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints;

19 and what is the excellence of the majesty of his power in us who believe; according to the efficiency of the strength of his power,

20 which he put forth in Mshikha, and raised him from the dead, and seated him at his right hand in heaven,

21 high above all principalities, and authorities, and powers, and lordships, and above every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that to come:

22 and he has subjected all things under his feet; and has given him who is high over all, to be the head of the church;

23 which is his body, and the fullness of him who fills all in all:

II.

1 and also you, [he fills,] who were dead in your sins, and in your offences,

2 in the which you before walked, according to the worldliness of this world, and according to the pleasure of the prince potentate of the air, that spirit which is active in the children of disobedience:

3 in which deeds we also, formerly, were conversant, in the cravings of our flesh; and we did the pleasure of our flesh, and of our mind, and were altogether the children of wrath, like the rest.

4 But Alaha who is rich in his mercies, because of the great love with which he loved us,

5 when we were dead in our sins, quickened us with Mshikha, and rescued us by his grace;

6 and resuscitated us with him, and seated us with him in heaven, in Yeshua Mshikha:

7 that he might show to the coming ages the magnitude of the riches of his grace, and his benignity towards us in Yeshua Mshikha.

8 For it is by his grace we are rescued, through faith; and this is not of yourselves, but it is the gift of Alaha:

9 not of works, lest any one glory.

10 For we are his creation ; who are created in Yeshua Mshikha, for good works, which Alaha has before prepared for us to walk in.

11 Wherefore be mindful, that you formerly were carnal Gentiles; and you were called the uncircumcision, by that which is called the circumcision, and which is the work of the hands in the flesh.

12 And you were, at that time, without Mshikha; and were aliens from the regulations of Yisrael; and strangers to the covenant of the promise; and were without hope, and without Alaha, in the world.

13 But now, by Yeshua Mshikha, you who before were afar off, have been brought near by the blood of Mshikha.

14 For he is himself our peace, who has made the two [become] one, and has demolished the wall which stood in the midst, and the enmity, by his flesh;

15 and by his prescriptions he has abolished the law of ordinances; that, in himself, he might make the two to be one new man; and he has made peace,

16 and has reconciled both with Alaha, in one body, and has slain the enmity by his cross.

17 And he came, and proclaimed peace to you afar off, and to those near:

18 because, by him there is access for us both, by one Spirit, unto the Father.

19 Wherefore, you are not strangers, nor sojourners, but you are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of Alaha.

20 And you are built upon the foundations of the apostles and the prophets; and Yeshua Mshikha has become the head of the corner in the edifice.

21 And in him all the edifice is framed together, and grows into a holy temple in Mar-Yah;

22 while you also are builded in him, for a habitation of Alaha through the Spirit.

III.

1 On this account, I Paulos am a prisoner of Yeshua Mshikha, for the sake of you Gentiles:

2 if so be, you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of Alaha, which was given to me among you:

3 that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, (as I have [now] written to you in brief,

4 so that while you read, you might be able to understand my knowledge of the mystery of Mshikha,)

5 which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and to his prophets, by the Spirit;

6 that the Gentiles should be sharers. of his inheritance, and partakers of his body, and of the promise which is given in him by the gospel;

7 of which I have been a minister, according to the gift of the goodness of Alaha, which was imparted to me by the operation of his power:

8 to me, who am the least of all the saints, has this grace been given, that I should announce among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Mshikha,

9 and should show to all men what is the dispensation of the mystery, which for ages was hid up in Alaha the Creator of all [things]:

10 so that, by means of the church, the manifold wisdom of Alaha might become known to the principalities and powers that are in heaven:

11 which [wisdom] he arranged ages before, and he has executed it by Yeshua Mshikha Maran;

12 through whom we have boldness and access, in the confidence of his faith.

13 Therefore I pray, that I may not be discouraged by my afflictions, which are for your sakes; for this is your glory.

14 And I bow my knees to the Father of Maran Yeshua Mshikha,

15 from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named;

16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit; that in your inner man

17 Mshikha may dwell by faith, and in your hearts by love, while your root and your foundation waxes strong;

18 and that you may be able to explore, with all the saints, what is the height and depth, and length and breadth,

19 and may know the greatness of Mshikha's love; and [that] you may be filled with all the fullness of Alaha.

20 Now to him who is able, by his almighty power, to do for us even more than we ask or think, according to his power that works in us;

21 to him be glory, in his church, by Yeshua Mshikha, in all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.

IV.

1 I therefore, a prisoner in Maran, beseech of you, that you walk, (as it becomes the calling wherewith you are called,)

2 with all lowliness of mind, and quietness, and long suffering; and that you be forbearing one towards another, in love.

3 And be you solicitous to keep the unity of the Spirit, in a bond of peace;

4 so that you may become one body, and one Spirit; even as you are called unto one hope of your calling.

5 For, Mar-Yah is one, and the faith one, and the baptism one;

6 and one Alaha is the Father of all, and over all, and by all, and in us all.

7 And to each of us grace is given, according to the measure of the gift of Mshikha.

8 Wherefore it is said: He ascended on high, and carried captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.

9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also previously descended to the interior [regions] of the earth ?

10 He who descended, is also the same that ascended up, high above all the heavens, that he might fulfill all things.

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers:

12 for perfecting the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edification of the body of Mshikha;

13 until we all become one and the same, in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of Alaha, and one complete man according to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Mshikha:

14 and that we might not be children, agitated and turned about by every wind of the crafty doctrines of men who plot to seduce by their subtilty:

15 but that we might be established in our love; and that every thing in us might progress in Mshikha, who is the head:

16 and from him [it is], the whole body is framed together and compacted by all the junctures, according to the gift that is imparted by measure to each member, for the growth of the body; that his edifice may be perfected in love.

17 And this I say, and testify in Mar-Yah, that henceforth you walk not as the other Gentiles, who walk in the vanity of their mind:

18 and they are dark in their understandings, and are alienated from the life of Alaha, because there is not in them knowledge, and because of the blindness of their heart.

19 They have cut off their hope, and have given themselves over to lasciviousness, and to the practice of all uncleanness in their greediness.

20 But you have not so learned Mshikha;

21 if you have truly heard him, and by him have learned as the truth is in Yeshua.

22 But [you have learned], that you should lay aside your former practices, the old man that is corrupted with the lusts of error;

23 and should be renewed in the spirit of your minds;

24 and should put on the new man, that is created by Alaha in righteousness and in the holiness of truth.

25 Wherefore, put away from you lying, and speak you the truth each with his neighbor; for we are members one of another.

26 Be you angry, and sin not: and let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

27 And give no place to the Accuser.

28 And let him that stole, steal no more; but let him labor with his hands, and do good acts; that he may have to give to him who needs.

29 Let no hateful language come from your mouth, but that which is decorous, and useful for edification, that it may convey grace to those who hear.

30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of Alaha, whereby you are sealed for the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, and anger, and wrath, and clamoring, and reviling, be taken from you, with all malice:

32 and be you affectionate towards one another, and sympathetic; and forgive you one another, as Alaha by Mshikha has forgiven us.

V.

1 Be you therefore imitators of Alaha, as dear children:

2 and walk in love; as Mshikha also has loved us, and has given up himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to Alaha, for a sweet odor.

3 But whoredom, and all impurity, and avarice let them not be at all heard of among you, as it becomes the saints;

4 Neither obscenities, nor words of folly, or of division, or of scurrility, which are not useful; but instead of these, thanksgiving.

5 For this know you, that every man who is a whoremonger, or impure, or avaricious, or a worshipper of idols, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Mshikha and of Alaha.

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words; for it is on account of these things that the wrath of Alaha comes on the children of disobedience.

7 Therefore be you not like them.

8 For you were heretofore darkness, but now are you light in Maran: therefore, as the children of light, so walk you.

9 For the fruits of the light are in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth.

10 And search out what is pleasing before Maran:

11 And have no commerce with the works of darkness which are unfruitful, but reprove them.

12 For the things they do in secret, it is nauseous even to mention.

13 For all things are exposed and made manifest by the light: and whatever makes manifest, is light.

14 Wherefore it is said: Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Mshikha will illuminate you.

15 See therefore, that you walk circumspectly; not like the simple,

16 but like the wise, who purchase their opportunity; because the days are evil.

17 Therefore, be not lacking in understanding; but understand you what is the pleasure of Alaha.

18 And be not drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness; but be you filled with the spirit.

19 And converse with yourselves in psalms and hymns; and with your hearts sing to Mar-Yah, in spiritual songs.

20 And give thanks to Alaha the Father, at all times, for all men, in the name of Maran Yeshua Mshikha.

21 And be submissive one to another, in the love of Mshikha.

22 Wives, be you submissive to your husbands, as to Maran.

23 Because the husband is the head of the wife, even as Mshikha is the head of the church; and he is the vivifier of the body.

24 And as the church is subject to Mshikha, so also let wives be to their husbands in all things.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Mshikha loved his church, and delivered himself up for it;

26 that he might sanctify it, and cleanse it, by the washing of water, and by the word;

27 and might constitute it a glorious church for himself, in which is no stain, and no wrinkle, and nothing like them; but that it might be holy and without blemish.

28 It behooves men so to love their wives, as [they do] their own bodies. For he that loves his wife loves himself.

29 For no one ever hated his own body; but nourishes it, and provides for it, even as Mshikha the church.

30 For we are members of his body and of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this reason, a man should quit his father and his mother, and adhere to his wife; and the two should be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery; but I am speaking of Mshikha, and of his church.

33 Nevertheless, let each of you severally so love his wife, even as himself: and let the wife reverence her husband.

VI.

1 Children, obey your parents in Maran; for this is right.

2 And the first commandment with promise, is this: Honor your father and your mother;

3 that it may be well with you, and that your life may be prolonged on the earth.

4 And parents, anger not your children; but train them up in the discipline and doctrine of Maran.

5 Servants, be obedient to your masters after the flesh, with fear, and with trepidation, and with simplicity of heart, as unto Mshikha.

6 Not in the sight of the eye, as if you were pleasing men; but as the servants of Mshikha, who are doing the will of Alaha.

7 And serve them with your whole heart, in love, as if serving Maran and not men;

8 knowing that whatever good thing a man may do, the same will be recompensed to him by Maran, whether he be a servant or a free man.

9 Also you masters, do you so to your servants. Forgive them a fault; because you know, that you have a master in heaven; and there is no respect of persons with him.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in Maran, and; in the energy of his power:

11 And put you on; the whole armor of Alaha, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the Accuser.

12 For our conflict is not with flesh and blood, but with principalities, and with those in authority, and with the possessors of this dark world, and with the evil spirits that are beneath heaven.

13 Therefore put you on the whole armor of Alaha, that you may be able to meet the evil [one]; and, being in all respects prepared, may stand firm.

14 Stand up therefore, and gird your loins with truth; and put on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 and defend your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

16 And herewith take to you the confidence of faith, by which you will have power to quench all the fiery darts of the evil [one].

17 And put on the helmet of rescue; and take hold of the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Alaha.

18 And pray you, with all prayers and supplications, in spirit, at all times: and in prayer be watchful, at all seasons, praying constantly, and interceding for all the saints:

19 and also for me; that language may be given me, in the opening of my mouth; so that I may boldly proclaim the mystery of the gospel,

20 of which I am a messenger in chains; that I may utter it boldly, as I ought to utter it.

21 And that you also may know my affairs, and what I am doing, lo, Tychicus, a beloved brother, and a faithful minister in Maran, will acquaint you;

22 whom I have sent to you for this purpose, that you might know what is [going on] with me, and that your hearts may be comforted.

23 Peace be with the brethren, and love with faith, from Alaha the Father, and from Maran Yeshua Mshikha.

24 Grace be with all them who love Maran Yeshua Mshikha without corruptness. Amen.

End of the Epistle to the Ephesians; which was written from Rome, and was sent by the hand of Tychicus.
