Philippians: Revised Murdock Translation
I.
1
PAULOS and Timotheos, servants of Yeshua Mshikha, to all the saints
that are in Yeshua Mshikha at Philippi, with the elders and deacons.
2
Grace be with you, and peace from Alaha our Father, and from Maran
Yeshua Mshikha.
3
I thank my Alaha at the constant recollection of you,
4
in all my prayers respecting you; and while I rejoice, I adore;
5
on account of your fellowship in the gospel, from the first day until
now.
6
Because I am confident of this, that he who has begun the good works
in you, will accomplish them until the day of Maran Yeshua Mshikha.
7
For thus it is right for me to think of you all, because you are
permanently in my heart, and because, both in my bonds and in the
vindication of the truth of the gospel, you are my associates in
grace.
8
For Alaha is my witness, how I love you in the bowels of Yeshua
Mshikha.
9
And this I pray for, that your love may still increase and abound, in
knowledge, and In all spiritual understanding:
10
so that you may discern the things that are suitable; and may be pure
and without offense, in the day of Mshikha,
11
and be full of the fruits of righteousness which are by Yeshua
Mshikha, to the praise and glory of Alaha.
12
And I would that you might know, my brethren, that the transaction in
regard to me, has eventuated rather for the furtherance of the
gospel;
13
so that my bonds, on account of Mshikha, are matter of notoriety in
all the court, and to all others.
14
And many of the brethren in Maran have become confident, on account
of my bonds, and are more bold to speak the word of Alaha without
fear.
15
And they herald [it], some from envy and contention; but others with
good will, and with love for Mshikha;
16
because they know that I am appointed for the vindication of the
gospel.
17
And they who herald Mshikha in contention, do it not sincerely; but
they hope to add pressure to my bonds.
18
And in this I have rejoiced, and do rejoice, that in every form,
whether in pretence or in truth, Mshikha is heralded.
19
For I know, that these things will be found [conducive] to my life,
through your prayers and the gift of the Spirit of Yeshua Mshikha.
20
So that I hope and expect, that I shall in nothing be put to shame;
but with uncovered face, as at all times, so now, Mshikha will be
magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
21
For my life is, Mshikha; and if I die, it is gain to me.
22
But if I have fruits of my labors in this life of the flesh, I know
not what I shall choose.
23
For the two press upon me: I desire to be liberated, that I may be
with Mshikha; and this would be very advantageous to me.
24
But also the business in regard to you, urges upon me to remain in
the body.
25
And this I confidently know, that I shall continue and remain, for
your joy, and for the furtherance of your faith;
26
so that when I come again to you, your glorying, which is in Yeshua
Mshikha only, will abound through me.
27
Let your conduct be as becomes the gospel of Mshikha; so that if I
come I may see you, and if absent I may hear of you, that you stand
fast in one spirit and in one soul, and that you strive together in
the faith of the gospel.
28
And in nothing be you startled, by those who rise up against us;
[which is] an indication of their destruction, and of life for you.
29
And this is given to you by Alaha, that you not only really believe
in Mshikha, but also that you suffer on his account;
30
and that you endure conflict, as you have seen in me, and now hear
concerning me.
II.
1
If, therefore, you have consolation in Mshikha, or if a commingling
of hearts in love, or if a fellowship of the Spirit, or if
compassions and sympathies;
2
complete you my joy, by having one apprehension, and one love, and
one soul, and one mind.
3
And do nothing in strife, or in vain glory; but, with lowliness of
mind, let each esteem his neighbor as better than himself.
4
And let not each be solicitous [only] for himself, but every one also
for his neighbor.
5
And think you so in yourselves, as Yeshua Mshikha also thought;
6
who, as he was in the likeness of Alaha, deemed it no trespass to be
the coequal of Alaha;
7
yet divested himself, and assumed the likeness of a servant, and was
in the likeness of men, and was found in fashion as a man;
8
and he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the
death of the cross.
9
Wherefore, also, Alaha has highly exalted him, and given him a name
which is more excellent than all names;
10
that at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow, of [beings] in
heaven, and on earth, and under the earth;
11
and that every tongue should confess that Yeshua Mshikha is Mar-Yah,
to the glory of Alaha his Father.
12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have at all times obeyed, not only when
I was near to you, but now when I am far from you, prosecute the work
of your life, more abundantly, with fear and with trembling.
13
For Alaha is operating in you, both to purpose, and also to perform
that which you desire.
14
Do all things without murmuring, and without altercation;
15
that you may be perfect and without blemish, as the sincere children
of Alaha, who are resident in a perverse and crooked generation; and
that you may appear among them as luminaries in the world;
16
so that you may be to them in place of life; for my glory in the day
of Mshikha, that I may not have run in vain or toiled for naught.
17
And if I should be made a libation upon the sacrifice and service of
your faith, I rejoice and exult with you all.
18
And so also do you rejoice and exult with me.
19
But I hope in Maran Yeshua, that I shall shortly send Timotheos unto
you, so that I also may have composure, when informed concerning you.
20
For I have no other one here, who, like my self, will sincerely care
for your welfare.
21
For they all seek their own, not the [things] of Yeshua Mshikha.
22
But you know the proof of him, that as a son with his father, so he
labored with me in the gospel.
23
Him I hope shortly to send to you, when I shall have seen how [things
result] with me.
24
And I trust in my Lord, that I shall shortly come myself to you.
25
But now, a circumstance urged me to send to you Epaphroditus, the
brother who is an assistant and laborer with me, but is your apostle
and minister to my wants.
26
For he longed to see you all, and was anxious, because he knew you
had heard, that he was sick.
27
And indeed he was sick, nigh unto death: but Alaha had mercy on him:
nor was it on him only, but also on me, that I might not have trouble
upon trouble.
28
Promptly, therefore, have I sent him to you; so that when you see
him, you may again be joyful, and I may have a little breathing.
29
Receive him then in Mar-Yah, with all joy; and hold in honor those
who are such.
30
For, because of Mshikha's work, he came near to death, and little
regarded his life, that he might fulfill what you lacked in the
ministration to me.
III.
1
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in Maran. To write these [things] again
and again to you, is not irksome to me, because they make you
cautious.
2
Beware of dogs; beware of evil doers; beware of the clipped in flesh.
3
For we are the [real] circumcision, who worship Alaha in spirit, and
glory in Yeshua Mshikha, and place no reliance on the flesh.
4
And yet I might place reliance on the flesh. For, if any one thinks
that his reliance should be on the flesh, I might [do so] more than
he.
5
Circumcised when eight days old; of the stock of Yisrael; of the
tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew, descendant of Hebrews; as to the law, a
Pharisee;
6
as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; and as to the righteousness
of the law, I was without fault.
7
But these things, which had been my excellence, I have accounted a
detriment, because of Mshikha.
8
And now also I account them all a detriment, because of the
excellency of the knowledge of Yeshua Mshikha my Lord; for the sake
of whom, I have parted with all things, and have accounted [them] as
dung, that I might gain Mshikha,
9
and be found in him; since my righteousness is not [now] that from
the Torah, but that which is from faith in Mshikha, that is, the
righteousness which is from Alaha;
10
that thereby I might know Yeshua, and the efficacy of his
resurrection; and might participate in his sufferings, and be
assimilated to his death:
11
if so be, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
12
Not as though I had already taken [the prize], or were already
complete; but I run [in the race], if so I may take that, for which
Yeshua Mshikha took me.
13
My brethren, I do not consider myself, as having taken [it]. But one
thing I know, that I forget the things behind me, and reach for the
things before me;
14
and I run straight for the goal, that I may obtain the [prize] of
victory of the call of Alaha from on high, by Yeshua Mshikha.
15
Therefore let those who are perfect, have these views; and if you
differently view any thing, Alaha will reveal that also to you.
16
Nevertheless, that we may attain to this, let us proceed on in one
path, and with one consent.
17
Be like me, my brethren; and contemplate them, who walk after the
pattern you have seen in us.
18
For there are many who walk otherwise; of whom I have often told you,
and I now tell you, with weeping, that they are adversaries of the
cross of Mshikha;
19
whose end is destruction; whose god is their belly, and their glory
their shame; whose thoughts are on things of the earth.
20
But our concern is with heaven; and from there we expect our
Vivifier, Maran, Yeshua Mshikha;
21
who will change the body of our abasement, that it may have the
likeness of the body of his glory, according to his great power,
whereby all things are made subject to him.
IV.
1
Wherefore, my beloved and dear brethren, my joy and my crown !-so
stand you fast in Maran, my beloved !
2
I beseech of Euodias and Syntyche, that they be of one mind in Maran.
3
I also beseech of you, my true yokefellow, that you assist those
women who toiled with me in the gospel; together with Clement, and
with the rest of my helpers, whose names are written in the book of
life.
4
Rejoice you in Maran, at all times; and again I say, Rejoice.
5
Let your humility be recognized among all men. Maran is near.
6
Be anxious for nothing; but at all times, by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving, make known your requests before Alaha.
7
And the peace of Alaha, which surpasses all knowledge, will keep your
hearts and your minds, through Yeshua Mshikha.
8
Finally, my brethren, what things are true, and what things are
decorous, and what things are right, and what things are pure, and
what things are lovely, and what things are commendable, and deeds of
praise and approbation, on these be your thoughts.
9
What things you have learned, and received, and heard, and seen, in
me, these do you: and the Alaha of peace will be with you.
10
And I rejoice greatly in Maran, that you have [again] commenced
caring for me; even as you had before cared [for me,] but you had not
the opportunity.
11
Yet I say this, not because I was in want; for I have learned to make
that satisfy me, which I have.
12
I know how to be depressed, and I also know how to abound in every
thing; and in all things am I exercised, both in fullness and in
famine, in abundance and in penury.
13
I find strength for every thing, in Mshikha who strengthens me.
14
Yet you have done well, in that you communicated to my necessities.
15
And you know also, Philippians, that in the beginning of the
annunciation, when I left Macedonia, not one of the churches
communicated with me in respect to receiving and giving, except you
only;
16
that also at Thessalonica, once and again you sent me relief.
17
Not that I desire a gift; but I wish fruits may multiply unto you.
18
I have [now] received all, and I abound, and am full: and I accepted
all that you sent to me by Epaphroditus, a sweet odor, and an
acceptable sacrifice that pleases Alaha.
19
And may Alaha supply all your necessity, according to his riches, in
the glory of Yeshua Mshikha.
20
And to Alaha our Father, be glory and honor, for ever and ever. Amen.
21
Salute all the saints who are in Yeshua Mshikha. The brethren who are
with me, salute you.
22
All the saints salute you, especially those of Caesar's household.
23
The grace of Maran Yeshua Mshikha, be with you all. Amen.
End of
the Epistle to the Philippians; which was written from Rome, and sent
by the hand of Epaphroditus.
